Mateusz Moskalik (born in 1978) educated in physics, keen photographer and polar explorer, member of the Polish Widelife Photographers' Union, doctoral student at the Department of Polar and Marine Research, Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. In the area of southern Spitsbergen he carries out researches on application of geophysical methods in glaciology, sedimentology and permafrost related issues. Yet as a student at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, Poland, he joined the 26th Polar Expedition of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He spent more than a year in the Polish Polar Station in Hornsund carrying out seismology observations and assisting in the environment observations.
His adventure with travelling and photography started with his wanders in Poland, Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine and Alps. For some years almost every spring and summer time he has been spending in Spitsbergen joining scientific activity and his passions: photography, ornithology and exploration of glacial caves.
Main and favourite subject of his photographs is the nature of subarctic and artic areas. He specialises in documenting of animal behaviour in their natural environment. However, the same enthusiastic he is about taking pictures of landscapes and human activities in the polar areas.
He is the winner of numerous awards and prizes in photography contests. His works are published in popular science, nature, tourist and photography magazines. They are also used by tourist agencies and other companies. Mr. Moskalik is associated with manufacturers or representatives of the following brands: SIGMA, Lowepro, GIOTTO's, PELI, GRAFF, Lexar. To master his printed works he cooperates with the EPOGRAF printing house.
